hey, i know you! installment fourteen. kaitlyn.

I met Kaitlyn in a high school acting class – she was that gorgeous, charming girl with perfect hair I was afraid to talk to. We became fast friends and bonded over our intense distaste of improv exercises in class. She’s wonderfully funny, passionate, and loyal, and the best model ever to photograph. Please say hello to Kaitlyn.

Tell me about yourself?

The name’s Kaitlyn, you can call me Kaitlyn, but I prefer Kaitlyn. I’m no one special. I’m simply a wandering soul trying to find my place in this thing called life. I have a tendency to fall in love with every person I meet, I watch way too much Netflix, I dance even when it’s silent, my socks always match, I eat way too much, and I am a believer of the One that isn’t seen with eyes but with the heart.

What are three of your life dreams?

I dream of, someday, having enough money to fill my stomach, gas tank, and closet with enough left over to give to those who don’t. I want to travel to the ends of the earth; telling everyone I encounter about my life and how it all changed when I believed is this guy named Jesus. I want everyone to hear how one moment in the presence of God changed the course of my existence and how I will never be the same again. I want to fall in love, get married (hopefully to Justin Bieber, but if not Ryan Gosling will do), and have a lot of really hot, crazy, weird, amazingly beautiful babies.

What’s the perfect day to you?

Being awoken by the tuna breath kisses of my kitty cat, eating a breakfast consisting of bacon, eggs and bacon, driving up to Lucky Peak Reservoir to wakeboard for a few hours, coming back into town for a photo shoot and coffee, dance with a stranger, attending a Generation Church Downtown Thursday service, eating fro-yo with best friends, having a late night drive around Boise with the windows rolled down and 90’s pop blasting, and falling asleep next to someone I really love. That sounds like a perfect day to me.

What do you think someone would be surprised to learn about you?

I farted once. Just once.

If you could be anyone else, who would you be and why?

Beyonce, because of reasons. I mean, do I really need to explain myself?

What has surprised you since graduating high school?

I found myself lost, not knowing what to do. When I was in 8, I thought, “Once I’m 19, I’ll be grown up and have it all figured out!” Sorry baby Kaitlyn, that’s not at all true. I’ve already dropped out of college, started an internship, quit my job, got a cool new one, became a single lady, and I bought a red bra (I was feeling sassy, okay). I guess what’s surprised me the most is how I’m okay with not knowing where I’m going or having it all figured out.

How do you take care of yourself?

I rarely wash my hair or shave my legs. I eat a lot of vegetables and pig out of carbohydrates. I constantly sing songs and remind myself of what God’s done for me. I use mineral powder and Falsies mascara. I hang out with lovely people and laugh at my own jokes. I sleep a total of 48 hours a week and wear clothes that make me feel pretty. I always read Bible verses and talk to God. I cover myself in Bath and Body Works products and only wear Victoria Secret underwear because I can.

It’s so true… When you are in High School you think that once you graduate you’ll have everything figured out and be a totally confident and competent adult.

NOPE. The early 20s are all about learning and growing! And guess what…. growth is always awkward.
