Art Journal Page

I made this page last week in a particular fit of suckiness. I had a lot of plans for August. Plans to finish the new course for Classes Kara Made (yeah, the same one I’ve been sitting on all summer), books to read, projects to start, the usual. There were some behind-the-scenes stressors that really distracted and left me feeling out of control and sad. I’ve been feeling discouraged and inadequate. I just wish creativity were easier. Life were a little easier. Which are all normal feelings and not unique to the ebb and flow of the creative life (or life in general), but frustrating nonetheless.

School starts tomorrow which is I am actually really, really excited about. I am now a part-time student, so I am taking only 3 classes (a design studio course, web design, and design history). In addition to my two part time jobs at school, being on student council, and freelance, I know I’ll be kept plenty busy, but I am still a little bummed I’m not taking more classes. I really love art school and am going to be sad when it’s all done.

I don’t know. That’s where I’m at. I think a new schedule and new environment will help get me back into my groove.

XOXO.

Don’t worry! Everyone has bad time sometimes. I felt unproductive for the whole june! But now it’s better. You’ll be better too;)

please don’t lose hope or faith dear kara. i agree with you about new schedule and a new environment. just because you didn’t feel like you did all the things you wanted to do, doesn’t mean you didn’t do anything. maybe you needed time to process, and you don’t know how you will use that later, or how you will use it now. i do know you redesigned natalie’s blog, which was major. one step at time, we genuinely believe in your creative spirit. now go forth and art on!

Good luck with school! It sounds like with everything you’re going to be busy! I always find when I’m going through a creative/life slump, the best thing to do is to put some headphones on, listen to your favourite song or one that makes you feel alive and marvel at the wonder of the world.

I really love that collage by the way! :)
